Profilo e tecnica
Il prototipo, mosso da un motore con architettura W18 e 6.3 litri di cilindrata, è una coupé a due posti a motore centrale.
La Bugatti 18/3 Chiron, presentata al salone dell'automobile di Francoforte nel settembre del 1999[2], prende il nome dal pilota monegasco Louis Chiron[3] ed è ultima di un trio di concept car progettate dalla Italdesign dopo la EB 118 coupè del 1998 e la EB 218 saloon del 1999.
Il nome Chiron è stato utilizzato in seguito per la Bugatti Chiron del 2016.[4]

The Bugatti 18/3 Chiron is a 1999 concept car developed by French automobile manufacturer Bugatti Automobiles and designed by Fabrizio Giugiaro of Italdesign.[3] Powered by a 6.3 L W18 engine, it is a 2-seater mid-engine coupé. The 18/3 Chiron was the last in a trio of Bugatti concept cars by Italdesign, after the 1998 EB 118 coupé and the 1999 EB 218 saloon.[es] Bugatti 18/3 Chiron
El Bugatti 18/3 Chiron es un prototipo de automóvil deportivo diseñado por Giorgetto Giugiaro y presentado en el Salón del Automóvil de Frankfurt de 1999.[1] Se trata de un diseño con motor central trasero, el Chiron tiene el mismo motor W16 que se utilizó en los prototipos Bugatti EB118 y Bugatti EB218. El motor W16 del Chiron tiene 6255 cc y 72 válvulas en posición central, desarrolla una potencia de 555 CV, una velocidad máxima de entre 300 y 335 km/h y puede acelerar de 0 a 100 km/h en 3,9 segundos. El peso aproximado del Chiron es de 1650 kg y tiene transmisión manual de 5 velocidades. El nombre "Chiron" proviene de un famoso piloto de carreras de Bugatti, el monegasco Louis Alexandre Chiron (1899 - 1979).[fr] Bugatti EB18/3 Chiron
