Storia
La prima serie della Fury venne introdotta nel 1956 quale versione speciale ad alte prestazioni della Belvedere e nel 1959 la Plymouth introdusse la Sport Fury come suo modello di punta. In tal modo, la gamma delle Fury comprendeva berline e station wagon e hardtop coupé o berlina convertibile, delle quali la serie Sport era solo due porte hardtop o convertibile. La produzione della Sport Fury venne sospesa alla fine del 1959, ma fu reintrodotta a metà del 1962. Dal 1966 al 1969 fu commercializzata una versione lussuosa della Fury che venne chiamata Plymouth VIP.

- Una Plymouth Fury del '58 è al centro del romanzo Christine. La macchina infernale di Stephen King e dell'omonimo film di John Carpenter. Der Plymouth Fury war ein Fahrzeug der zum Chrysler-Konzern gehörenden Marke Plymouth, das in verschiedenen Versionen von 1959 bis 1978 angeboten wurde. In den ersten eineinhalb Jahrzehnten war der Fury ein Full-Size-Modell und nahm die Spitzenposition innerhalb des Plymouth-Programms ein. Zeitweise gab es Sonderserien wie den Sport Fury; in einigen Modelljahren wurde die Baureihe außerdem in die nebeneinander angebotenen Linien Fury I, Fury II und Fury III untergliedert. Eine besonders hochwertig ausgestattete Version des Fury wurde zeitweise als Plymouth VIP verkauft. Ab 1975 wurde die Bezeichnung Fury im Wege des Badge Shifting auf die Mittelklassemodelle der Marke heruntergereicht, während das Spitzenmodell die Bezeichnung Gran Fury erhielt. Besondere Bekanntheit erhielt der Fury durch den 1983 erschienenen Roman Christine von Stephen King und dessen Verfilmung, in dem ein Plymouth Fury die Hauptrolle spielt.[en] Plymouth Fury
The Plymouth Fury is a model of automobile which was produced by Plymouth from 1955 to 1989. It was introduced for the 1956 model year as a sub-series of the Plymouth Belvedere, becoming a separate series one level above the contemporary Belvedere for 1959. The Fury was a full-size car from 1959 to 1961, then a mid-size car from 1962 to 1964, again, a full-size car from 1965 to 1974, and again, a mid-size car from 1975 to 1978. From 1975 to 1977, the Fury was sold alongside the full-size Plymouth Gran Fury. In 1978, the B-body Fury was the largest Plymouth, and by 1979, there was no large Plymouth. This was rectified in 1980 with the R-body Gran Fury, followed by the M-body Fury in 1982. Production of the last V8, RWD Plymouth Fury ended at Kenosha, WI, on December 23, 1988. Unlike its sibling brand, Dodge, Plymouth would not live to see the resurgence of the large, V8/RWD sedan.[es] Plymouth Fury
