Scout Motors Inc. is an automotive marque of the Volkswagen Group. The marque was established in May 2022 and is scheduled to be marketed in the United States in 2025.[1]

Not to be confused with a Škoda term for rugged station wagon based crossover SUVs.

History


The Scout marque is named after the off-road vehicle International Harvester Scout, produced from 1961 to 1980, which Volkswagen has owned since 2020 through its American truck subsidiary Navistar International.[2]

On May 11, 2022, Volkswagen AG announced the creation of a new brand, Scout, dedicated to electric vehicles, designed, developed, manufactured and marketed in the United States.[3][4] The first two vehicles marketed from 2026 by the new brand are an SUV and a pick-up, like the American manufacturer Rivian with the R1T (Truck) and R1S (SUV) launched in 2021.[5]
