The Chery Omoda 5 is a compact crossover SUV produced by Chery since 2022. It was unveiled during the Auto Guangzhou 2021. Omoda is the name of the new Chery global product series following the Tiggo series. According to Chery, the letter “O” from Omoda represents “brand new” while “Moda” means a fashion trend.

The Omoda 5 was known under the codename X-C before launch. It is the first crossover SUV model of the Chery 4.0 products that features Chery's newly developed “Art in Motion” design language, and was launched in the second quarter of 2022.[2]
The interior of the Omoda 5 is equipped with two integrated and curved 10.25-inch high-definition digital screens that offer intuitive control of driving, climate and entertainment settings.[3]
The Omoda 5 was launched with a Kunpeng Power 1.6-liter turbocharged ACTECO TGDI engine with 197 hp and 290 Nm mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. A version powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5 liter engine and a version powered by a turbocharged 1.5 liter engine with a 48V motor mild-hybrid was added later.[4][5]
The Omoda 5 was launched in the Chinese market in 2022 and production started in February 2022, with scheduled launch on various overseas markets, starting with Indonesia on second quarter of 2022.[4][6] In August 2022, the vehicle entered Australian and New Zealand as the Chery Omoda,[7] while in Russia and Kazakhstan Chery created a separate Omoda brand for its crossover to market it as the Omoda C5.[8] then in Thailand version it's Electric as the Chery OMODA 5 EV will be released in 2023. The Omoda 5 is currently sold in the Israeli market as the Chery FX[9].
