The Škoda Garde (Type 743) is a rear-engined, rear-wheel drive coupé that was produced by Czechoslovakian manufacturer AZNP between 1981 and July 1984. It was initially manufactured in Kvasiny from September 1981 to May 1982 - with production moving to Bratislava in May 1982 – becoming the first mass-produced car in Slovakia.

The Garde is a 2-door coupé derived from the Škoda 120 LS 4-door saloon,[1] powered by the same 1.2-litre (1174 cc) engine producing 40.5 kW (54.3 hp).

Der Škoda Garde ist ein sportlich angelegtes Coupé von AZNP unter der Marke Škoda. Produziert wurde das Fahrzeug von 1981 bis Mai 1982 in Kvasiny. Die Produktion wurde danach ins slowakische Bratislava verlegt; der Garde wurde das erste in größeren Mengen produzierte Auto auf slowakischem Boden. Problematisch war die Fertigungsqualität des neuen Werks in Bratislava, die Qualität konnte mit der jahrzehntelangen Erfahrung des Werks Kvasiny nicht mithalten. Der Vorgänger war der Škoda 110 R. In Deutschland wurde der Garde unter der Bezeichnung Rapid verkauft. Technisch und äußerlich basierte es auf der 742er Reihe. Das Fahrzeug hatte eine Flüssigkeitskühlung.[1] In die DDR importiert wurde das Fahrzeug nicht.- [en] Škoda Garde
